Annual spring break excursion that engages a group of students in dialogue by traveling and exploring the background of a particular cultural group. Sankofa trips teach students that in order to move forward in life, we must go back to our roots. In order to know w在这里 we are going in life, we must go back to our past and understand w在这里 we came from.

今年, Sankofa traveled to NOLA to dive deeper into understanding identity through a historical, 政治, 以及交叉透镜. 学生 had the opportunity to learn more about the impact of Hurricane Katrina, 巫术文化, the significance of the Mardi Gras celebration, and African American history including the civil rights movement 和 evolution of jazz music, 还有享用小龙虾, 秋葵, 以及更多诺拉招牌菜!

The 杰出学者计划 is a 10-day summer bridge program designed to assist underrepresented first-year students make a successful transition from high school to college and ultimately to a successful graduation.

中北书院 is a proud partner of the Associated 大学 of Illinois. The ACI同伴导师计划 supports first generation, freshmen Black students by matching them with a trained peer mentor.
